Join us every Saturday in Mentone, AL, YEAR-ROUND no less, for the finest and freshest vegetables produced by local growers from all over DeKalb County and Jackson County. You'll also find fruits, flowers, plants, cage-free eggs, honey, and other locally produced goods. We'll have weekly door prizes, maybe some entertainment, and occasionally demonstrations that will enrich your experience with locally grown food.

During the Summer months, Mentone is also open on Wednesday, and now we have added a market on Tuesday afternoons in Ft. Payne. The options are endless!

The purpose of the North Sand Mountain Farmers' Market is to bring together the people of neighboring communities and make available to them nutritious food and valuable information.  Opportunities to be involved with our Market include volunteering at our information booth, selling your own home-grown items, or buying fresh produce and goods from our local vendors.

Come enjoy a cooking demonstration or home made ice cream at the Mentone location, next to the Mentone Inn. At least once a month a local chef or grower is at the market to use local food available that day, to create a delectable dish for you to enjoy! The chef is available and interested in answering all your questions about cooking seasonally and about that particular dish. Ice cream socials will include local fruit available that day.

Market Bucks
Enter each week to win a door prize -- $10 of Market Bucks. You may spend these anytime during our 2011 Market season at any vendor. To enter, come to the market and fill out the entry form. Winners are drawn at the end of the market and will be notified. Limit of one entry per person per week.

Friends of the Market
Friends of the Market is a volunteer program with the North Sand Mountain Farmers’ Market. Friends partner with the Market to increase education and awareness of food insecurity in our area. Friends also provide key community involvement at the Market.

How it works: Apply at the Information Booth to become a Friend of the Market. Report your volunteer hours to the Information Booth. Bonus! Once you volunteer ten hours, you receive a complimentary Friend of the Market t-shirt!
